Taking a moment to be present

by | Jan 26, 2023 | Open Leadership, Storytelling

I was recently talking to someone focussed on themselves, their “why”, Purpose, Intent. Such conversations can get quite metaphysical, in ways such as I wrote about in: “the unexamined life is not worth living” nearly five years ago. One quote in that post that I shared in that recent conversation was:

“The two most important days in your life
are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

From my own experience and from working with many clients over the years, finding one’s “Why”, one’s Intent, is indeed truly powerful. It can act as an anchor for all that we do and how we show up in the world. The process for this, though, is truly holistic and can take moments or months. It is to be held gently and explored in different ways depending on each individual. One constant, though, is that one must first be present, still, in the moment.

That conversation gave me a reminder of the power of Presence, which can have many benefits, including gratitude and appreciation.

So, a while later, I found myself getting off a train at Blackfriars station in London just after sunset. As I stepped off the train amongst the commuter hordes rushing hither and thither, I paused, and looked out of this magnificent and truly unique station, sitting as it does astride the Thames in central London. The photo above is what I saw when I paused for a moment of presence.

I love London. It always brings a smile to my face to stop and take it in, particularly when the view is like this!

Take time to be present.
