Sharing my Values

by | Nov 8, 2022 | Open Leadership, Self-Knowledge

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

In working with clients I will often work with them to gain clarity on their Purpose and Values (in an organisation, often labelled as their Culture).

Once they are clear on their WHY (Purpose) and WHO (Values), we can look at their WHAT (Positioning) as it relates to their HOW (Products and Services).

I recommend that these are reviewed carefully and thoroughly with regularity, as we do change over time. I do this regularly and share below my own latest review of my own.

My WHY, my Purpose, is unchanged (this is the element which, I believe, changes little, if at all, over time), it remains #MakingPotentialPossible (for others and for myself). As to my WHO, my Values, my three core values remain as before, with the “Sub-Values” under each Value seeing some slight updates and “tweaks”. The concept of sub-values is to bring both definition and richness in the expression of single Values words.

Sharing these publically feels a little Brave and also a little vulnerable, yet my context for my posting daily here is to Share Learnings, so this is true to that intention. I would love to hear from you with any thoughts, observations, questions on what I share below, and also, perhaps, to learn from you about your own values.

My Values

Fair
  • Be Without Judgement – “no right or wrong, only different”
  • Equity – Opportunity for all as to their needs
  • Belonging – Create space for others so they may feel belonging
Brave
  • #BeMoreYou – “your playing small does not serve the world”
  • Do the right thing – always, even when at cost to self
  • Radical Candour – Challenge Directly, while Caring Personally (and deeply)
Curious
  • Humble – One more piece of information can change everything
  • Growth Mindset – seek to Improve, not to Prove
  • Empathic – Listen to understand, not to reply
