Ride as long or as short as you feel, but ride.

by | Aug 17, 2022 | Open Leadership, Response-ability, Self-Knowledge

Ride as much or as little or as long or as short as you feel. But ride.

Yesterday the hot weather was set to break in the UK, so early in the morning I got on my bike in the light drizzle and went for a ride to get some exercise in (as regular readers know, I finished Chemo just a few weeks ago so now focussed on rebuilding fitness gently and steadily).

As I got to the top of the long hill that begins my regular route, I decided to stop. It wasn’t due to the rain, it was simply that I wasn’t feeling like a longer ride. I did enjoy it though, it was definitely some Kairos time (see a post earlier this week on this topic here)

I was reminded of the words of the great Eddie Merckx, the photo of which has inspired several blogs (see here , here and here for just three eclectic examples you can peruse)

Oh and perhaps I also thought of that Eddie Mercx photo as it hangs behind the instructors at Revolutions Spinning Studio in Cayman and one of the founders recently referred a client to me that I met in London for the first time later in the day after that short ride.

Anyway, when it comes to consistency around anything (including exercise), remember the words of Eddie Merckx:

Ride as much or as little, or as long or as short as you feel. But Ride.
