WHY!! – sharing learnings from a brilliant marketing email

by | Jun 29, 2022 | Open Leadership

This is a marketing email I saw this week. It is absolutely brilliant. Here is why I think so:

  1. All about the customer
  2. Makes it easy for potential members to be clear on their own WHY through that list of 10 WHY ideas
  3. Demonstrates the WHY of the gym itself, to help you be and stay motivated so they can then support you in achieving your own why
  4. Gives a sense of what they offer beyond the core gym offerings, including coaching, knowledge, community
  5. Oh, and the subject line of the email is simple: WHY!!

Brilliant.

The other day I wrote: “What three things would you like people to know about you?“. To add to the list about myself in a more specific way, for over 15 years, from around 2000 onwards, a core focus of my work was marketing, and through a time when selling over the internet was new and then grew fast. My core areas of focus were travel and tourism, but it matter not whether print, online or digital, messaging is always key and that was always a core focus for me.

Messaging remains core to what I support client leaders with even now, helping them with clarity and then distilling and communicating their message to their people and stakeholders in and beyond their company.

Just yesterday I wrote: “Who can help you see into the future?“. noting that one key part of what I offer is: “both an outside perspective and also one that is wide-ranging and forward-looking. This adds value to leaders who are often so focussed on running their business that they have little time or space to build the type of highly diverse network of people and ideas that can really add value to them, their leadership, and their business.

Today’s post, one of around 1600 now on this site through years of daily posting, is an example of diversity and curiosity. I’ve already sent this to a mentee who is a leader looking to distil their powerful message around partnership in support of the community.

There are learnings everywhere if you choose to see them. I write daily to share learnings, that is the WHY of this blog.
