What three things would you like people to know about you?

three things

Hat tip today to Ian Sanders (past guest on #whatcomesnextlive) for this from a recent LI post:

As a storyteller who works with leaders in organisations – and as someone who loves collecting smart questions – I thought this is a good one to pose. What are the three things you want your team or your audience to know about You?!

Here are three things I want people to know about me:
– I started out in local radio when I was still a teenager
– My career has seen me follow my curiosity rather than having a plan, carving out unique Ian-shaped roles
– I love taking clients and colleagues on urban walk & talks

Hmm. What are my three things (in a business context, as Ian also chose):

  • I love business and believe it can be a true force for good, and I’m very much focussed on leaders of businesses and organisations that can scale their impact (see the image in green above of my “Scale for Impact” model and this post)
  • My absolute core value is FAIR, so I only want clients and people in my life who believe in that too. Allied to that is being open, honest, and direct. This aligns closely with the image in red above and this post on #OpenLeadership)
  • “Leadership is about people, end of story” is one of my oft-repeated “things Tom says”. I LOVE people, I am energised, inspired and driven to connect with people and ideas. However, nothing happens until people take their ideas and make things happen. For that, I work with leaders on their message, on empowerment, on engaging and aligning people, and on communications. I call this approach “Cascading Leadership“, as per the blue image above and this post).

So, those are my “three things”, both in writing and in visual form.
