Movies with meaning 1

by | Nov 22, 2017 | Open Leadership, Storytelling

A different kind of post, and the first of an occasional series.

Here are a first few movies I love that also have meaning within them that resonates for me. Do share yours with me and I’ll post another set soon.

So, to begin, the inspiration for this was that the late, great Ed Percival shared a love of movies and used to keep an eye out for movies with meaning.

Let me start with a movie that Ed and I both loved a lot, and as I watched this clip and heard Morgan Freeman share these words, tears came to my eyes at the knowledge Ed passed on to me (and so many others):

LUCY

“The whole purpose of life has been to pass on what was learned.

There is no higher purpose”

My next choice is all about belief, choice, commitment, self-belief.

SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION

“I guess it comes down to a simple choice.. get busy living, or get busy dying”

A reminder to live a full life in this lifetime, to not compromise.

BRAVEHEART

“Every man dies, not every man really lives”

Red pill or Blue pill ? What choice do we make in life ourselves ? Do we allow ourselves to accept life as a slave to the matrix, or do we have the bravery to see the truth ?

THE MATRIX

“All I’m offering is the truth, nothing more”
