If someone wants to talk, listen with your heart.
Recently I was listening to a friend tell me something their family is facing right now, and they said “As a parent you are only as happy as your unhappiest child”. That hit home.
At the moment I am blessed that all of my children are thriving, and in listening to my friend, two core thoughts came to me. First, for me to truly appreciate the calm and tranquil times in our lives, as it is inevitable that this will not always be the case. Second, when things are calm and tranquil for me, to make even more time to be present for my family and friends, to be there to listen, to understand, and to support.
If where I am sounds like where you are, perhaps do I as I am doing and proactively reach out to people as they may not be in the space to be doing the same, and they will likely be happy to hear from you. If they are, and if they want to talk, listen with your heart.
