Where do you read your books?

by | Aug 8, 2023 | Open Leadership

The other day Rory Sutherland (another past guest on #WhatComesNextLive, listen to us in conversation here) tweeted:

Love the idea! My immediate reply was:

That’s a genius idea.

Scooter caffé on Lower Marsh (by Waterloo station is a perfect place to read a book, particularly on their lower floor)

At the moment I’d be reading anything by Carlo Rovelli

I love Scooter caffé, introduced to me by the unique human that is Kay Scorah (yes, ANOTHER past podcast guest, you can hear Kay in conversation with me here). Scooter café is minutes from the business of Waterloo station, but a haven of peace and tranquility. On numerous occasions, I’ve snuck in there for a coffee and to read. I also recall a long conversation about writing with a friend who lives near there, a conversation which felt enriched by the ambience of the place.

Where do you like to read, and, to add, what do you like to accompany your reading with?

PS in considering this, I was reminded of the photo above, from about eight years or so ago, back when I lived on the water in Cayman and had a luxurious hammock. I used to love to retreat there with a cold local beer (I still love Ironshore Bock from Cayman Islands Brewery), and here seen absorbing another Rebus masterpiece by Ian Rankin (who I have yet to get on the podcast as a guest. Hmm, Ian, how about a chat about 80s music and vinyl?)
