What’s for you will not go by you

by | Aug 30, 2022 | Open Leadership

One of my favourite posts, “Patience – “Whit’s fur ye’ll no go by ye”” references Emma Gonzalez and the patience it takes to create a movement for gun control, Sagrada Familia, still unfinished a century after the death of the architect, Van Morrison and his song Enlightenment, and, oh yes, my Scottish granny. When you have a few minutes, do click the link and enjoy the connecting of dots 🙂

The translation of that Scots phrase is “what’s for you will not go by you” and I am reminded of this as I am currently house hunting. If I chose, it could be a stressful experience, viewing houses, bidding on them, and then missing out on them (as has happened a few times already), but I am always able to return to being centred by knowing that what is meant for me will be there at the right time,

I was remarking to someone the other day that I don’t worry. I really do very rarely worry about anything at all. This is partly in my nature, but also very much as I have focussed deeply and for years on maintaining my equilibrium in different ways, including the wisdom of that Scots Granny!

So, do think about how much you worry, then how you could reduce that.

Oh, and always remember, “Whit’s fur ye’ll no go by ye” !
