Yesterday I was on a group call around the theme of “the Power of Pausing”. As I listened to the esteemed panellists, I recognised that their themes were all around pausing as individuals.
It occurred to me that we can also choose to pause, together.
I then thought of a client who meets with me (on zoom) at the same day and time each week for an hour. They have been doing this since we started working together over a year ago. They are always busy with a pressured workload, yet somehow they always make the time for that hour. They have never missed that hour once.
This is a time for them to pause as we work together, patiently, to take them and their business from where they were to where they seek to go.
Last week when we spoke, we reached an inflection point for the individual and the business. In effect, they had been pausing for over a year, now it is time for them to “light the blue touch paper” and accelerate forwards. They had paused, together with me as their coach, for a considerable time, and that was what it took in order to “slow down to speed up later” for the type of transformative leap they were seeking and now will achieve.
The “Power of Pausing” indeed!
