First, thank you to Sketchplanations for their latest visual: “Context is King“, so concise, so clear.
Last week I started working with a new C-Suite client. As I outlined to them, one of the first things to establish in our relationship is the Context for it, what, at source, are they seeking to focus upon. Context drives everything, context is, indeed, “King”.
When you are fully present and deeply listening to someone, you are not listening for content, but beneath that, for their context, whether that be for their business today, in the future, and also often for them personally.
Other words often used in place of context are “Agenda”, “What?”, “Why?” and more.
If you would like to delve into this more, here are some more posts I’ve written around Context.
- Context and choosing your team
- Without Context, Data is simply Noise
- Context creates clarity and focus
As always, you can book a zoom with me to talk for forty minutes, I love new conversations with new people. You can bring your context (agenda?), and if you aren’t totally clear on what that might be, I can listen as you talk to me and perhaps one will emerge.
