Go back to better

by | Apr 3, 2021 | Open Leadership

Why go back to normal when you can go back to better?
New campaign from HISBE, rebel supermarket chain.
HISBE stands for: “How it should be”

“I don’t want to go back to the way things were, I want to go back to better

A client recently shared this phrase with me, having heard it from the teenage son of a friend. They, then I when they shared it with me, were truly inspired by this language.

As I mused on it the other day, it occurred to me that it has the subliminal effect of creating energy and momentum towards a better future. Imagine you are holding a bow and arrow. You first pull back on the bowstring, creating potential energy ready to be unleashed. When you then release it, this powers the arrow to fly forward, straight and true.

As we gradually emerge from this pandemic, an event like none other in modern history, we can first go back, taking time to embrace our past ways and systems. We can then be clear on what we want to keep, what we want to let go of, what we want to improve on, amplify, augment.

All of this is captured in this phrase “Go back to better”.

Now, my work centres upon the phrase “What’s Next?”, supporting leaders through what I call authentic insights, from them then to leverage bravery and have meaningful impact. Visit my home page to learn more, then feel good about booking a conversation on the site. Let’s talk about what’s next, and also how you and your organisation can “go back to better”.
