Be the Pebble in someone’s Pond.
I do limit the number of email newsletters I remain subscribed to, particularly as I am now adding more and more substacks to read. One of the newsletters is from “Feasts and Fables“, and now they too have launched their substack called Encourage Meant, the title based on their “Encouragement Manifesto”:
As you can see, contextually this is all about abundance in thought and deed small and large. As Morgan Da Costa often reminds me, there are “No Ordinary Moments”, and as Ed Percival taught me through his example, we can all make a positive difference in every interaction.
So, for me, the provocation in the Encouragement Manifesto that means the most is the final reminder, to “Be the Pebble in the Pond”, whether that be something major that turns into a movement for change in a business or organisation, or simply a pebble in the pond that makes someone’s day better. A simple example came earlier this week when someone was in a difficult moment and asked if they could call me. I had only met them twice before, yet they chose to trust my counsel. I gave them my full and listening presence for what turned out to be twenty-one minutes, then I left that call knowing I had been a pebble in their pond. There are fewer better feelings.
Be the Pebbles in someone’s Pond.
