The formula for success is the courage to start, the discipline to focus, the confidence to figure it out, the patience to know progress is not always visible, and the persistence to keep going, even on the bad days.
The courage to start.
The discipline to focus.
The confidence to figure it out.
The patience to know progress is not always visible.
The persistence to keep going, even on the bad days. That’s the formula.
Thanks to Shane Parrish for this.
My work is with leaders on high-value strategic work that ultimately creates massive change and value for their organisation and people.
A key operative word in that is “ultimately”. Anything that will result in massive change will take time.
I therefore draw your attention to the fourth and fifth lines of the formula above.
You do have to start, then focus, then figure it out (the true analysis of the problem and then the correct solution).
All of that is not enough though, as yes, sometimes progress is not always visible, and yes, you must be persistent to keep going, even on the bad days.
For current clients reading this, some of you will identify with where you are on the journey.
For past clients, I trust that some of you will smile and know that was the formula and yes, that it was worth it!
