Whether it be in hospitality or other businesses, always maintain a laser focus on the power of doing the simple things well.
Last month I was treated to a surprise lunch at one of the most “hard to get a reservation” spots in London, the bistro Bouchon Racine.
As it was styled as a classic French bistro, I decided to treat myself off the menu to their take on a classic dish, “steak frites”, with a bottle of house red wine to accompany.
The thinking behind my choice was “Let’s see how well they do the simple things”, in addition to which I love the classics, whether that be steak frites in a bistro, or even just comfort food when at home such as toasted cheese etc.
In short, Bouchon Racine excelled, from wonderful service to a meal superb in every element. I’ll be back (as and when I can get another reservation!).
Beyond this brief recollection of a sublime “foodie” memory, I hope this helps you think about the power of doing the simple things well. Whether it be in hospitality or other businesses, always maintain a laser focus on this, it is always your foundation and comes ahead of adding complexity and variety to your offerings.
