Thoughts on accountability and making potential possible.
My purpose is #MakingPotentialPossible.
I have chosen my roles as Sounding Board, Coach, Mentor, Guide, and Trusted Advisor to all be in service of that sense of purpose.
Some of that work is with a carefully selected small group of clients, whilst much of it is also provided pro bono in different ways.
For both paying clients and pro bono support alike, some provocative questioning from a dear friend after we recently met has me thinking about accountability and how that aligns with my purpose and who I then choose to work with.
Concisely, it energises me to help people and their organisations better understand who they are, what they are great at, what their potential is and what is, therefore, possible for them.
However, it is the most energising when they are then accountable to themselves to actually realise that potential, to take the action, to do the work, to do what it takes to realise their potential.
So, know that if you ask me to support you in any way, one of the most powerful things you can do for me in return is to be accountable to yourself to take what you gain from our work together and to realise your potential.
PS The artwork above is a commission that I had Hugh McLeod of Gaping Void do for me about a decade ago. Once I have redecorated the study in my new house it will hang once again in a prominent place as a reminder to myself and all those I work with that #MakingPotentialPossible is a high purpose for us all.
