How do you feel?
With coaching clients I may ask them “What are you feeling?”, then, if they answer in a way that seems to be lacking in clarity, I may then follow up with something like “What are you really feeling?”
PS If someone asks you how you feel and you say “fine”, “good”, “ok”, have you ever asked yourself if a) you are saying that to avoid saying how you really feel, and/or b) because you aren’t actually able to name how you feel?
Am thankful for this very useful post to Susan David, Ph.D., and to Przemyslaw Gawronski (past podcast guest on WhatComesNext.Live here) for bringing it to my attention. Susan’s post is all about helping us to identify what specifically we are feeling and being able to name that.
So, what are you feeling?
