The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing
Stephen R. Covey
It is sometimes easy, having established a vision, communicated it and got the team energised, to then quickly dive into the detail to look for actions that will drive results soon.
Sometimes that is the right approach, but sometimes it is important to “slow down now to speed up later”, to take time to reinforce the “why”, to embed it, anchor it, then focus on what it will take in order to achieve that vision.
In short, to stay, for a time, at a higher level of context before getting into the detail.
As Master Covey might have said, sometimes “the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing”.
