Never come in without knocking, unless there is a dog

Never come in without knocking, unless there is a dog

This week I wrote a longer post called “What makes a fish clever?” focussed on the value and importance of business leaders becoming more educated and aware around neurodiversity so that they can both help society and benefit their business. I then saw this sign on a social media post and it make a humorous and succinct post about neurodiversity and focus. We may all see ourselves in this door notice to some extent. After all, the reason they call it a spectrum is that we are all somewhere on that continuum. I certainly am. Distract me and I take quite some time to fully gather my focus back.

That’s why, for example, I have all notifications turned off on my computer at all times. Emails to me will be answered when I choose to look at them, not when some notification flies out onto the top right of the screen. Who thought that was a good idea? Tssk!

Those further along the ADHD spectrum may or may not be easily distracted once they get into a focussed “zone”, but some might, and a door notice like this could be very useful to them.

Of course, for me, you can always disturb me… if there is a dog. I love dogs 🙂
