As I am about to move house, yesterday I took time to power wash my patio as part of doing what I can to add to the magic of my buyers walking into their new home for the first time. It reminded me of how much I love power washing, it really is a simple pleasure that I never tire of.
It is easy to take moments for granted, but we can choose to find happiness in the simplest of things.
One more thought. Back in October 2020, I wrote “Happiness is a Solid“, with this quote:
“Happiness is a Solid and Joy is a Liquid
J.D. Salinger
the post then moved on to this quote:
Joy and happiness are wonderful feelings to experience but are very different. Joy is more consistent and is cultivated internally. It comes when you make peace with who you are, why you are and how you are, whereas happiness tends to be externally triggered and is based on other people, things, places, thoughts and events.
My thought today, then, is that perhaps the more we are at peace with you we are, why we are, how we are, then maybe we find more than momentary happiness in the small things, maybe we can expand our joy.
As you can tell, I love power washing!
