Today I had a two-hour call with a friend that was really enlivening. My choice of the word enlivening came from them discussing areas of their work that really enliven them.
I know that talking to people also really enlivens me. I often begin by listening, and then seek to have a conversation that connects dots and stimulates ideas and thinking. All of that really enlivens me, something I have become ever more awareness as I have progressed through my (soon to finish!) health journey with colon cancer, particularly when on chemo, where I forget the feelings of toxic fatigue and sickness that have come as part of the package for me!
In short, I am enlivened by people and ideas and by connecting the dots. As my work is centred on working 1:1 with leaders (see my home page to see specifically who I seek to attract to work with me), that is also designed to enliven.
I note that another word that is key for me is to inspire, I seem to inspire and, in a virtuous circle, be inspired by those I talk with, including the wonderful friend I spent time with on a call today! The image above speaks to this and is the first piece of artwork I bought, many years ago, from Hugh Mcleod of Gaping Void.
So, as well as talking to people and connecting the dots, what truly enlivens me is when people are inspired (and isnpired to action!) through conversation with me.
What enlivens you?
