“Notice more where you find yourself improvising when things surprise you or don’t go as planned. Also, notice where you don’t improvise”
This week I am participating in a learning experience called “The Everyday Improviser” led by Rob Poynton (a previous #WhatComesNextLive guest, see that show here) and his collaborator Gary Hirsch.

I love the idea of “noticing more”, allied to the thought that improvisation is not a performance or anything special, it is actually something we do routinely and are actually all experts at in different ways. In order, then, to further polish our skills in improvisation, one key step is to “notice more”, to notice where we do and do not improvise when the opportunity presents itself.
PS as the half-hour session got started, I looked up over the screen to the East and saw a glorious moonrise. I simply had to stop and take a photo of what I “noticed”!
