Yesterday I finished a client meeting early, but my first train on the journey back only runs once an hour, so I got in a cab at the local train station for the ride to the mainline station to catch the next train back to London.
The driver immediately asked if I’d missed a train and I confirmed that and that I was getting a cab as it would still get me home at least forty minutes earlier.
They then noted that if they took me to the next stop that the London train would make after the station I had asked for, it would take less time and cost me less.
Great! We did that and I added a healthy tip for the ride. Oh, and as I got out of the cab, a line of people were waiting and the driver got another fare right away.
Their curiosity was a win for me and a win for them, a great example of how being curious can add value for your customer and for yourself.
