While I was away in Cayman, I had a painter come to my house in London and do a pretty significant job both patching up a poor job done by the last painter and also prepare and paint a few areas that hadn’t yet been done. We had agreed on a price and also he said that if there was more to do we would agree on those additions.
So, as I sat in Miami airport waiting for my flight back to London, he sent his invoice and it was for the quoted price only. I messaged him to ask if there were any extras in the work as he hadn’t billed for any? His answer first listed quite a significant amount of extras, then he said:
“So yes plenty of extras but we didn’t agree a price I just took it upon myself to do these as needed doing …. So no obligation to pay more but if you wish to give a little extra then that’s completely up to you”
Wow. So very cool! I am actually writing this in advance to schedule for after I return, so as I write this I am a) excited to see his work when I get back, b) sure it will be great, then c) I know I will add to his payment as abundance like that deserves an abundant response!
