Presence, specifically the ability to be 100% present for others, is a key skill for leaders. I seek to learn often and from varied sources around this.
One of those sources is Marina Abramovic. Recently I wrote: “How can you see inside a conversation?“, referencing an earlier post: “InnSaei – to see from the Inside Out“. In that most recent piece, I referenced: “my “presence crush”, possibly the most “present” person I can imagine there is out there, Marina Abramovic”.
I noted a stunning moving moment on the first evening of her performance of “The Artist is Present”. That post is: “What happens when we find silence?” and includes the video of said moment.
I’m re-re-referencing here today, yet at the same time giving you a slightly different and specific perspective. What follows is an eight-minute excerpt of Innsaei, an interview with Abramovic focussed on “The Artist is Present”. The first words she speaks in the interview about that performance art piece were: “My function was to be there, present, 100%, for them“. Simple words, and if you, like me, are always seeking to learn more about how to be nearer and nearer to 100% present, do watch this stunning interview.
