Readers will note that, in the last week or so, a number of my daily posts have been briefer than usual, plus a number have talked about focus. Linked to this, during this brief period, I have been pulling together quite a number of finishing items for a personal project all at the same time. This juggling has left me without my usual ability to focus as deeply on the normal key areas I apply my focus to.
An interesting learning, given that several years ago I consciously chose to structure not just my work but my life in order to allow time to focus.
So, the learning today is that it is not sufficient to choose to focus on something, you must also ensure you have the available capacity to focus.
Capacity can be constrained by lack of a number of things, and when it comes to focussed thought, examples are
- time
- energy
- clarity
- calmness
PS this personal project will be done within a week or so, at which I trust regular readers will sense and see my focus returning to full flow!
