Pawprint offers this awareness, as well as suggestions to reduce our individual impact.
Up until around 2017, I’d fly well over 100,000 miles per year, getting on well over 50 aircraft, with much of that being long haul travel. I had calculated that I was generating over 50 tonnes of CO2 emissions from air travel alone. Yes, long haul business travellers are way up in the top 1% of carbon polluters. Yikes!
However, how aware was I of this? For many years not at all. As a mentor of mine always taught me: “awareness is the greatest agent for change”, Pawprint offers this awareness, as well as suggestions (nicely “gamified”!) to reduce our individual impact.
The image above is my current carbon “pawprint”, a radically reduced one given I haven’t got on an aircraft in almost exactly a year. My “Pawprint” has dropped from about 60 tonnes down to pretty much average. In fact I’m way below average in many areas, but little I can do right now about living on my own in an older house with less efficient heating etc 😉
I discovered this app through Christian Arno, a brilliant and energetic entrepreneur I met through his last business. He has followed his passion and purpose to lead Pawprint and, after first being a beta tester and loving the app, I was one of many who joined as an equity crowdfunder (so yes, I have a (very) small stake in the business!).
As we see corporate focus on both people and planet increasing, Pawprint is focussed on partnerships with larger and larger corporates such that they offer Pawprint to all their people. It is fantastic for corporates to reduce their own carbon footprint (offices, production, supply chain etc), yet I sense very few actively support their people in doing the same at home and in their personal lives and activities. Pawprint offers this, simply and easily.
So, a plug for something I believe in. For yourself as an individual, you can sign up for free. For corporates, download it for yourself, then I encourage you to talk to the Pawprint team about partnering to roll this out through your company.
