Time to tell people what you are focussed on now.
I’m about to re-launch my website after several months of going back to “First Principles” (First Principles thinking will be the subject of a future blog) in order to patiently build a concise “less is more” site.
However, note that I said “several months”. My site will be largely static in terms of information about “You, Me, Together” (who I work with, what I bring, the journey we can go on together).
This means it misses out on telling people what I’m focussed on now.
It is tough to meet up in person right now. Sometimes we can meet on zoom, if not perhaps we can get a sense for what someone is focussed on through their social media or blog posts, but there is no one concise place to find out what they are doing “Now”.
Enter a brilliant idea…
Today, reminded by some circular serendipity (turns our I introduced NIck to the thoughts of Derek Sivers a while ago) by the brilliant Nick Parker and his weekly “That Explains Things” newsletter, I am reminded that one addition to my website I shall make is to have a “Now” page.
This idea comes from Derek Sivers, his “now” page is here. His concept is outlined here, the summary being:
Most websites have a link that says “about”. It goes to a page that tells you something about the background of this person or business. For short, people just call it an “about page”.
Most websites have a link that says “contact”. It goes to a page that tells you how to contact this person or business. For short, people just call it a “contact page”.
So a website with a link that says “now” goes to a page that tells you what this person is focused on at this point in their life. For short, we call it a “now page”.

I hope this inspires some of you to create your own “now” page, then to both list it at nownownow.com and to share it with me, I’d love to read what you are focussed on right now!
Oh, and Nick will be a guest on WhatComesNextLive early in 2021, I greatly look forward to that!
