What comes next?

At the moment, many of us are primarily or even exclusively focussed on one time frame:

What comes now?

This matches much of the advice I have been giving in the last few weeks around the current environment and has been key for us as individuals as well as leaders to both cope as humans and operate effectively.

However, and those who know me well know this of me, although I am someone others turn to at times of crisis, my preferred time frame is always a different one:

What comes next?

In fact, though in my writing and in hosting online events in recent weeks my focus has matched that of the times and the audience and been on “what comes now?”, behind the scenes I have been spending more and more time talking to those ready for the “what comes next?”.

Wayne Gretzky was, indubitably, “The Greatest”, and yes, one of the keys to his genius was that he always seemed to know where the puck was going, he knew “what comes next”.
