Sometimes the question is more important than the answer

The Pontiac Aztek. Still no idea what question this answers.

Have you ever faced a situation where you really don’t know what to do and this has you feel frustrated, or perhaps even overwhelmed, confused?

When that happens, do you feel the need to make a decision quickly, to know what to do, to then act quickly?

It seems to me that in our fast-paced world we are often pressured (and put pressure on ourselves) to think and to act fast.

However, in my experience, sometimes the question is more important than the answer.

Sometimes the question is more important than the answer

What I mean is that there is sometimes value in sitting with the question, perhaps allowing time to process things, to recognise that your uncertainty has value.

If you can slow down your analysis and thinking and then give space and time to allow your intuition to speak.

This can be a quiet existential question, a “what am I doing with my life?” type question.

For business leadership, it could be “what business are we in?”.

Taking it down to a project level, when they were all pushing ahead with this project, could somebody at General Motors simply have not asked:

“why would we launch such an ugly and pointless car as the Pontiac Aztec?”
